Kein FC-Mitglied werden, 2019

In a parasitic poster intervention, the design of FC Köln's advertising campaign was critically reinterpreted. "FC-Mitglied werden" (“Become an FC member”) became "Kein FC-Mitglied werden" (“Don't become an FC member”). The mascot, the Geißbock goat, was also given new speech bubbles with statements such as: “What should I eat tomorrow?” or “The green belt belongs to everyone”.

Regardless of the climate emergency declared by the city of Cologne in 2019, FC Köln planned to expand the RheinEnergieSportpark together with the city of Cologne - and thus the development of the Gleueler Wiese in the Outer Green Belt. 35,000 m2 of ecologically valuable land was to be sealed and replaced by artificial turf pitches. These are known as heat islands - surface temperatures of up to 63 °C have been measured on comparable areas in the Inner Green Belt.

This is happening despite the city naming the protection of the urban green system as a key measure against climate change and biodiversity loss. The green belt fulfills essential ecological functions: Cooling through evaporation, pollutant binding, water storage, oxygen production, habitat formation - and it provides much-needed recreational space.

At the time, FC Köln published a major campaign to show its solidarity with the city and to greenwash its expansion plans. In an action by Achim Mohné and other Cologne artists and cultural workers, these were redesigned with critical additions.

Together with Fridays for Future, various posters were also put up in front of Cologne City Hall and other local political institutions as part of a demonstration.
